WEBER PT: versatile powerhouse – now even more powerful with the new E-unit

The new generation WEBER PT can be customized to meet individual customer requirements. Whether it’s descaling and de-slagging of thick plates, deburring and edge rounding of sheet metal parts, or achieving perfect surface finishes, there is a suitable variant for every requirement to deliver excellent results

Thus, the unique CBF station guarantees a flawless surface finish, while the WEBER bolt grinding beam optimally processes flame- and plasma-cut thick plates. The PT series machines can be equipped with up to five grinding stations, making the range of processing options extremely versatile and flexible.

Patent Pending: The E-Unit

The machine, showcased at WEBER's booth in Hannover, operates with three units: a contact roller unit for removing primary burrs, a planetary head unit for edge rounding, and, as the third station, the newly integrated, patent-pending E-Unit for rounding the underside of workpieces.

Developed by engineers in Kronach, the new unit uses counter-rotating elliptical disc brushes arranged in a dual-row configuration. The elliptical shape of the brushes creates a large overlap area with counter-rotating processing directions - despite the same rotation direction and identical tools.

While the bolt grinding beam and planetary head work from above, the E-Unit rounds the edges of workpieces from below. Ideal: The close arrangement of the pressure rollers and the good support effect of the tools make it possible to process small parts from about 100 millimeters in diameter from below. Of course, thicker sheet metal parts can also be processed with these tools. Even uneven or warped workpieces pose no problem for the new unit.

Overlap Without Complex Kinematics

A key advantage: The overlap of the processing areas is achieved purely through the tool geometry. On this basis, the machine processes edges and surfaces very uniformly and without oscillation marks. Maintenance-intensive and wear-prone kinematics are no longer required.

The PT can be intuitively operated thanks to WEBER's “i-Touch” interface. Large doors on both sides greatly facilitate access for maintenance. Naturally, the grinding machine can be easily integrated into any production line.

The WEBER PT is equipped with grinding belts of 2620 mm length and offers various working widths: 600 mm, 1100 mm, 1350 mm, and 1600 mm.
