Gründer Hans Weber

1922 – The beginning of everything

The beginning of it all: Hans Weber develops a grinding machine. Driven by ideas and a spirit of innovation, he thinks about how the hard, predominantly manual production of slates could be made more economical. In 1922, after his further training as an engineer and parallel to his work at a Kronach machine factory, Hans Weber begins to design and manufacture grinding machines for the slate industry on his own account. This is the first hour of the WEBER grinding machine and the foundation stone of the Hans Weber Maschinenfabrik.

1920s – Birth of cylinder sanding machine

On behalf of the Nuremberg machine factory Carstens, Hans Weber develops another innovation in the 1920s: a cylinder sanding machine. It soon becomes clear: the grinding technology of WEBER machines is also ideally suited for use in the woodworking industry. With the design and construction of mechanical variable-speed gearboxes, Hans Weber lays the historical foundation for later extruder production.

1950 – The second generation

The second generation: Heinz Weber In 1950, graduate engineer Heinz Weber joins the company. A new era in the company's history, which is inseparably linked to the history of the Weber family, begins. In 1955, WEBER develops the first wide belt sanding machine, which revolutionizes surface finishing at that time. The triumphant advance of WEBER sanding machines takes its course - but initially not under the WEBER name. For decades, sales were handled by a large machine trading company. After its bankruptcy, the contractual relationship ends.

1950s – The plastic age is dawning

The boom of a new material begins during the flourishing economic miracle: plastic conquers all areas of life. Whether window frames or garden chair coverings - from now on, everything is available made of the new, practical material. Heinz Weber recognizes the opportunity and relies on extruder technology.

1958 – Screw presses and extruders

In 1958 WEBER creates a groundbreaking technological milestone: the construction of the first screw presses and extruders for the plastics processing industry. Thanks to extruders from WEBER, the extrusion of pipes and window profiles is now possible at a high quality level and economically. With a whole range of innovative detailed solutions, WEBER soon takes over the market leadership in the dynamically growing plastics industry.

1960s – Back to the Roots

Heinz Weber returns to the roots of the company and brings new life to the field of grinding technology with innovative ideas and engineering skills. Since 1975, Heinz Weber has again been successfully manufacturing and selling grinding machines - from now on under the brand name WEBER.

1983 – Wood and metal shoulder-to-shoulder

WEBER expands its product range and delivers the first metal grinding machine in 1983. However, WEBER achieves a real breakthrough on the market with its patented "WEBER STC" grinding technology. The newly developed pin sanding beam presses the heavy sanding belts required for deburring evenly against the sheet metal parts with tolerance compensation, thus achieving an extremely consistent sanding quality. Since the mid-1980s, WEBER has been successfully present in parallel on the wood and metal markets with sanding machines.

2009 and 2017 – The fourth generation

In 2009, Dr.-Ing. Markus Weber, the son of Dr.-Ing. Johannes Weber, and, in 2017, Ludwig Weber, the son of Michael Weber, join the company. They continue the already initiated paradigm shift from a pure mechanical engineering company to a leading tech company with competences in mechanical engineering, intelligent control technology and innovative manufacturing processes.

2019 – WEBER automation

In 2019, WEBER establishes its divisions WEBER Robotics and Automation.

The WEBER Robotics and Automation division stands for the design and implementation of complex industrial robotics and automation solutions - and thus for added safety and efficiency in the production process. 2020 – Energy efficiency and resource conservation

WEBER has declared one of the most important topics of the time, the topic of sustainability, to be a corporate value: energy efficiency, conservation of resources as well as the processing of plastic-wood composites such as WPC or other natural materials in the field of extrusion are trend-setting. Today, WEBER is a regionally rooted and internationally active family business. Products for the world of tomorrow are created on a total of 46,000 square meters of production space at the two Kronach sites in Bamberg and Industriestrasse.
