Sanding and deburring machine for processing thin or heavy plate

The WEBER PT is a new generation universal grinding machine for deburring, rounding, descaling and surface grinding of fine or heavy plates. Up to 5 sanding stations enable all processing variants. A CBF station can be installed for a perfect surface finish. The WEBER stud grinding beam is available especially for flame-cut and plasma-cut heavy plates.

WEBER processing systems

The concept of the PT series is primarily designed for industrial use. WEBER therefore also offers the sanding machine as a top/bottom version. The selection and arrangement of the processing stations from above and below are freely selectable; the P2 planetary head unit, for example, can also be switched on adaptively.

For surface finishing and deburring, we use rubber-coated grinding rollers. The grinding pressure is generated by lowering the roller compared to the set workpiece thickness. Their use ensures uniform removal of burrs, resulting in a smooth surface. The contact roller is particularly effective for rough grinding, as it effortlessly removes thick, melted laser splatter. The contact roller is precisely controlled and usually positioned slightly below the zero line, allowing for flexible adjustment of the grinding pressure and meeting the requirements of various workpieces. To ensure quick and precise positioning, the unit is equipped with electric adjustment and can be accurately positioned and readjusted during operation. The contact roller unit is equally prepared for the use of Scotch-Brite belts. Grinding rollers are available in various diameters and rubber hardnesses and can be adapted to all parts to be ground.

Technical Specifications:
+ Rubber-coated 40-90 Shore
+ Drive depending on the series up to 110kW
+ Electric roller adjustment and positioning

Features:
+ Use of different belts possible
+ Removes thick, molten laser spatters
+ Effective for rough grinding
+ Surface grinding

The advantages of a grinding bar and the performance of a grinding roller are combined in one grinding station. Constant grinding quality, high material throughput, and low operating costs due to long grinding belt lifetimes characterize this technology. The grinding belt is pressed a few millimeters downward by hardened pins; this pre-tension compensates for all existing thickness tolerances from part to part autonomously, allowing for an economical multi-loading process across the entire processing width.

Technical Specifications:
+ Drive up to 30kW + Cutting speed of approx. 3 - 16m/sec
+ Contact roller Ø130mm (ø175mm) rubbercoated, 60° Shore
+ Adjustment accuracy 0,1mm
+ Tolerance compensation up to +/-3mm for workpiece thickness / part distortion

Features:
+ Electromechanical roller adjustment and positioning
+ Pressure hose with manual pressure regulator for adjusting the required grinding pressure

For uniform all-around edge rounding on all inner and outer edges, multiple rotating heads are arranged side by side. The intermeshing of the brushes, with two brushes per head, ensures consistent processing results across the entire width. Due to the compact design, the brush head can be easily combined with other WEBER grinding technologies. The multirotation brush is ideal for processing coated materials, such as foil-coated sheets or galvanized sheets, where the coating must not be worn off or damaged.

Technical Specifications:
+ Drive 2,6kW per unit
+ Speed frequency-controlled 30-150U/min
+ Cutting speed frequency-controlled 5-20m/sec
+ Electrical height adjustment and positioning

Features:
+ Grinding-brushing station with multiple horizontal rotating units
+ Each with 2 vertical rotating brushes
+ Flap brushes are quick-changeable
+ Side extension for easy tool change

Planetary head “P2”
The planetary head unit "P2" offers the perfect and most economical solution for uniform and all-round edge rounding on all inner and outer contours. The patented, single-row planetary head system "P2" is characterized by a particularly large overlap area of the individual tools and therefore does not require additional oscillating movement. Thanks to the sealed planetary heads, the system is particularly low-wear and low-maintenance. The brushes always work at the optimal angle on the workpiece, ensuring high efficiency. With our patented WEBER solution "P2", the tools of the adjacent planetary head gears overlap seamlessly, avoiding gaps during processing.

Planetary head “P6”
As an alternative to the compact design of the "P2", WEBER also offers a double-row arrangement, where each tool carrier carries six brushes. This unit is equipped with an electric adjustment for quick and precise positioning. It can be activated, deactivated, and precisely positioned and readjusted during operation via a program.

Flexibility and versatility
Both the planetary head "P2" and the "P6" allow the use of different tools for various applications. Possible tools include slag hammers, wire brushes, or profile grinding discs. This versatility makes the planetary head units from WEBER a flexible solution for various processing requirements.

The WEBER CBF technology is primarily used in the metal sector to create an adjustable stroke length during surface grinding. The technique operates with a transversely running pressure lamella belt arranged within the wide belt station. The pressure lamellae constantly interrupt the engagement of the grinding grains, thus avoiding the unwanted oscillating grinding marks of the grinding belt. The result: the surface is smooth and uniform.

The WEBER brush unit enables the use of special abrasives that aren’t available as abrasive belts. The brushes treat the surface and, in part, the edges. The oscillating brush system is adjustable and is used primarily for longitudinal sanding. The brush rollers improve surface quality, alter surface roughness depth, or modify the surface structure.

Technical Data:
+Drive power up to 37 kW
+ Cutting speed 5–18 m/s
+ Display accuracy 0.1

Features:
+ Adjustable oscillation
