Innovation in surface finishing
Hans Weber Maschinenfabrik, from Kronach in Germany, has been contributing innovative ideas to the mechanical engineering sector for 100 years. At this year's LIGNA trade fair in Hannover, the company will be presenting its new concept for individual surface finishing.
More than 100 years of engineering "Made in Germany" Starting out by building a grinding machine for slates in the 1920s and having developed into one of the leading international companies in the sector: it is impressive what the WEBER company has achieved. Passion for new technologies has been in this machine factory's genes for more than 100 years. Each new generation contributes its own, innovative ideas to the company's history. The family firm has now become firmly rooted in the market, offering excellent, patented wood sanding and metal grinding machine process technologies. Regardless of whether their customers require high-quality furniture, trade fair construction, high-gloss surfaces for kitchens or entire walls for timber buildings, WEBER applies its many years of experience and know-how to address the individual needs of its customers as early as the development stage of its sanding machines. Customers can thus rest assured that they will always get the solution which perfectly matches their requirements: wood sanding, veneer sanding, lacquer sanding or in the panel industry.
Staying true to their motto "Trust in your ideas!", WEBER will present their new concept at this year's LIGNA, with three new packages in the field of surface finishing.
The "Basic" package: WEBER structure and saw blade grinding
These days, tactile textured surfaces are indispensable. Executed on the proven WEBER standard units, these surfaces lend the products a rustic character, aided by the simplest of tools.
The portfolio goes beyond the old familiar saw blade finish, because it has been expanded to include some creative ideas by WEBER.
Whether structuring raw wood surfaces, exposing individual layers of lacquer from painted surfaces or for pre-sanding during structuring, WEBER's "Basic Package" of Structural Sanding offers the perfect solution for all these types of applications.
In a nutshell:
- Easy retrofitting, no specific attachment parts required on the unit
- Suitable for all veneer and solid wood processing
- Can be achieved with the proven Weber standard grinding units
- No restrictions on the construction year for retrofitting
- No additional components on the units
The "Advanced" package: WEBER effect sanding HD
The new concept for surface finishing that WEBER will present at the Hannover LIGNA trade fair is: WEBER HD.
This new and unique add-on package enables companies to create their own, individual sanding patterns – effortlessly.
This package is the first of its kind in the market and consists of a Creativschliff (i.e., creative sanding) blade developed and patented especially by WEBER, the necessary software programming, and the relevant training.
The pressure pieces can be applied to the blade individually and in any random order in order to achieve unique and individual surface patterns.
And to top it all: the package can also be easily retrofitted to existing WEBER sanding machines with years of manufacture 2015 and younger.
In a nutshell:
- Creating your own and individual surface patterns
- Easy retrofitting on existing machines
- Machining with all drive powers possible
- “Made in Germany” quality
The "Expert" package: WEBER CBF-Motion-Control
The concept for surface finishing in the field of sanding technology is another novelty: CBF-Motion-Control.
This new add-on system for the patented CBF unit enables different effects to be sanded remarkably easily.
Special software is used to switch the unit from fine sanding to special effect sanding mode at the touch of a button. The adapted user interface now allows the operator to design their individual interface in a practically infinite number of ways. Wave, zigzag, segment and line patterns can be sanded into all types of wood and wood-based materials in just one go.
So far, the system is unique on the market and can be retrofitted to both new machines and existing WEBER sanding machines built in 2019 or later.
Retrofitting is done as a complete package and includes:
- Unit conversion
- Software update
- Training of your operating staff by an application engineer
In a nutshell:
- Creating your own and individual surface patterns
- Suitable for all types of wood and wood-based materials
- Easy retrofitting on existing machines
- “Made in Germany” quality
Bundled quality from the Franconian Forest, live at the LIGNA 2023 trade fair
At its booth at this year's LIGNA trade fair, WEBER will present a special sideboard, sustainably and regionally produced and with plenty of local innovations. Martin Haseney, owner of the Haseney joinery based in Kronach in Upper Franconia, is the initiator of this promotion. He brought the innovations of regional manufacturers on board to realise the project. The beech front with a special facet cut by WEBER sanding, the sanding machine division of Hans Weber Maschinenfabrik, makes a real eye-catcher of the entire piece. WEBER also provided the base of the furniture, WEBER additive to be precise, which was 3D printed from recycled plastics and carbon fibres.
