Processing veneer wood with WEBER sanding machines

Veneer wood, which consists of thin layers of wood applied to a substrate, requires special attention and care during the sanding process in order to achieve optimum results. Our sanding machines are equipped with innovative technologies that are specially tailored to the challenges of veneer wood processing. With our planetary head system, we avoid wood fibers coming up. The CBF system enables oscillation-free sanding. The ISD link beam ensures even material removal, even with complex workpieces.

Rely on WEBER sanding machines to take your veneer processing to the next level.

Innovative WEBER technology

At WEBER, we rely on pioneering technologies for the processing of veneer wood. The processing of veneer wood requires the utmost precision and care, especially when sanding edges and surfaces. At WEBER, we have developed innovative technologies that ensure even sanding pressure, prevent sanding through the edges and achieve a flawless surface.

Discover our solutions:

Even sanding pressure on the edge and surface is a prerequisite for good sanding results. It is particularly important in veneer processing that the edges of the veneer are not damaged. Any broken or round sanding of the edges can lead to undesirable results and impair the quality of the end product. Thanks to our innovative technology, sanding through the edges is impossible.

Freely movable pressure pieces connected to the sanding lamella automatically exert uniform pressure on the sanding belt. This ensures even pressure distribution on the longitudinal and transverse edges without additional lateral forces acting on the adjusting cylinders. The distance between the individual cylinders can be flexibly adjusted as required in order to enable particularly small grid patterns for maximum sanding results on the veneer edges.

This arrangement of the pressure pieces eliminates the need for additional and vulnerable guides and ensures maintenance-free operation of the system. In addition, our technology allows certain areas to be processed with different sanding pressures, enabling more precise customization to the requirements of the project.

With our innovative planetary head system, we achieve a flawless surface, regardless of the direction of the wood fibers or the shape of the workpiece. How does it work? Our planetary heads move in different directions and interlock perfectly to ensure even processing. This ensures that the fibers are removed in all directions, while the edges are deburred at the same time. The result? A professional finish that significantly improves the feel of your workpiece.

But that's not all! After processing with our planetary head system, no more wood fibers come up. This means less work for you when reworking and a particularly smooth surface.

Achieve flawless surfaces without annoying oscillation marks with our innovative CBF technology. Our solution uses a transverse pressure lamella belt within our wide belt stations to continuously interrupt the contact of the abrasive grains. The result? An even surface, free from annoying sanding marks.

Our CBF technology not only offers aesthetic benefits, but also practical ones. The constantly changing pressure prevents excessive heating of the surface, which is particularly important to prevent the sanding belts from sticking during the machining process. Comparable to a cross sanding unit, the lamellar belt runs without control, automatically compensates for tolerances, wears evenly and is inexpensive to replace.

Another advantage of CBF technology is that, in contrast to classic cross sanding, one grit level can be skipped. This means that you can achieve particularly fine sanding results with our system without compromising on quality.

WEBER Specials - for even more efficient work and optimum sanding results

Automatic workpiece thickness measurement
The automatic transfer of the workpiece thickness to the clearance height simplifies adjustment and saves time. A good sanding result can be achieved immediately

Vacuum table - for precise transportation
A vacuum table ensures safe transportation of the veneer workpieces. The perforated design of the conveyor belt and table enables a powerful blower to generate a vacuum in the table body. This ensures a high level of adhesion of the workpieces on the conveyor belt, which guarantees precise positioning within the machine.

Dust solutions - for dust-free surfaces
The WEBER ES workpiece blow-off system removes dust from the veneer workpiece surface using self-propelling compressed air propellers arranged next to each other, which are only activated directly in the area of the workpieces. Optional dust brushes at the machine outlet clean the sanded workpieces of any remaining sanding dust, especially when processing veneer wood.

FAQ
Questions about veneer processing

WEBER offers customized special machines for processing veneer sheets. Thanks to these machines, we are able to sand with extreme precision down to a hundredth of a millimeter. This accuracy is particularly important for the sanding process of thin veneer sheets in various applications such as furniture construction or interior design.

Veneer processing with sanding machines is a crucial step in the production process of high-quality veneers. These sanding machines are specially designed to precisely sand the surface of the veneers and ensure a uniform thickness.

Veneer sanding machines are equipped with advanced technologies that enable high accuracy and efficiency. One example of this is WEBER's CBF technology, which works with a transverse pressure lamella belt. This technology continuously interrupts the contact of the abrasive grains to avoid unwanted oscillating sanding marks. The result is a smooth and even surface that meets the high demands of the veneer wood industry.

Precise processing with sanding machines enables veneers to be produced with an exact thickness and a flawless surface. This is particularly important for applications where a high surface quality is required, such as in furniture production or interior design.

Veneer wood is produced by peeling or cutting thin layers of wood from logs or blocks of wood. When peeling, the log is rotated while a knife peels off thinner layers. When cutting, thinner slices are cut from the wood. The resulting veneers are then dried, sorted and, if necessary, further processed before being used in various industries.
