“Exactly the solution we were looking for”
WEBER TTSC plus – Premium model in the compact class at RANA-WERK in action
“Exactly the solution we were looking for”
RANA-WERK Metallverarbeitungs GmbH is a family-owned business in the truest sense. Founder Michael Graf and his daughter Alexandra Graf-Weig steer the company’s history with a keen sense for the market and their customer’s needs. Of course, they place great importance on the highest quality in the process. To achieve surface finishing results that meet this quality standard they recently adopted a particularly high-performance machine: TTSC 1350 plus, the allrounder by WEBER.
When it’s about steel furniture, the name RANA is amongst the top players. The products that leave the factory of the family-owned company in Schwandorf in Upper Palatinate, seduce through their clear, minimalistic Design, their durable functionality and their excellent manufacturing.
For more than 30 years RANA has been producing furniture for living spaces and offices, as well as for gardens and terraces. However, under the leadership of the company’s founder and CEO Michael Graf, along with his daughter, CEO Alexandra Graf-Weig, the company has significantly broadened its scope.
Today RANA produces with more than three dozen employees not only their popular steel furniture. Shelf-systems and steel shelfs for industrial and commercial users belong to their portfolio as well as balconies, stairs, railings and ramps for use in private housing or company buildings. Even entire bridge constructions made of steel occasionally leave the RANA-factory in Schwandorf. Of course, the company doesn’t only work with steel, but also with other metals such as aluminum, stainless steel and brass.
Professional and highly motivated team
“We can absolutely rely on our professional and highly motivated team, and we are indeed very proud of that. Because that’s the basis for a consistently high quality of our products and our service”, explains Alexandra Graf-Weig. “Additionally, it is the requirement for us to always respond individually, creatively, and solution-oriented to our customers' wishes, while still being able to impress them with short delivery times.”
To be able to meet this high standard of performance, RANA not only needs competent and motivated employees but also a production environment that matches: flexible, powerful, and designed for the best work results.
This was more than enough reason for Michael Graf and Alexandra Graf-Weig, to choose the TTSC-1350 plus by WEBER, to bring the surface finishing of their products on a new level of efficiency and quality.
Setting standards: TTSC 1350 plus
The WEBER-machine sets without a doubt a new standard in the industry, because it combines three different processing systems in its compact case: It deburrs with high feed rates, rounds edges up to R2 with exceptional precision, and provides a surface finish that meets all expectations. Additionally, it efficiently processes sheets with cut-outs, deburrs coated sheets, and removes burrs from cut edges with ease.
“One of our strengths as a company is, that we have a very large range of products and offerings,” explains Alexandra Graf-Weig. “We develop and produce not only our own steel furniture, railings, stairs and similar products, but we also work as contract manufacturer for different clients. That makes us more resistant towards fluctuations in the individual market segments, but it also demands high flexibility.”
Quickly and with the highest quality
The highest priority at RANA is to “fulfill every customer wish quickly and with the highest quality. That is only possible with an excellent, well-coordinated, and creative team – and with the needed machine equipment.” For example, primary burrs can be evenly removed using the rubber-coated sanding rollers with ease. Even thick, melted laser splatters are effortlessly eliminated during preliminary sanding. When it comes to achieving a smooth surface texture, the rollers also play a crucial role.To achieve an ideal sanding pressure, the contact roller is typically positioned slightly below the zero-line relative to the workpiece thickness. Naturally, the sanding pressure can be flexibly adjusted to meet the requirements of the specific workpiece.
Refined engineering “made in Kronach”
The second unit of the TTSC 1350 is the patented single-row planetary head unit “P2” – a perfect and highly cost-effective solution for consistent, all-around edge rounding. The individual tools work with an especially big overlapping area, this eliminates the need for additional oscillation movements - there are neither gaps in the processing nor oscillation marks on the surface. The fact that the brushes always operate at the optimal angle on the workpiece makes them particularly efficient.
For the various processing requirements, the planetary head unit is equipped with different tools such as slag hammers, wire brushes, and profile grinding discs.
The third processing station available in the WEBER TTSC 1350 Plus is the Multi-Rotation Brush 'R2’ and it’s also a model of sophisticated engineering 'made in Kronach': Several adjacent rotating heads ensure uniform edge rounding on all internal and external edges. The two brushes per head intermesh, providing very consistent processing results across the entire working width.
The Multi-Rotation Brush is ideal for all-around rounding of three-dimensional parts such as fins, threaded pass-throughs, or formed shapes. Among its strengths is the processing of coated, galvanized, or fire-aluminized sheets, where the coating must not be removed or damaged. These are applications that are part of RANA's daily business.
Built-in efficient working
Alongside the performance features of the various units, the WEBER TTSC 1350 Plus also impresses with its sophisticated peripheral functions that support fast and efficient operation. The individual units and modules are exceptionally easy to access through the doors on both sides of the machine. This allows for simple and quick tool changes. The TTSC 1350 Plus also sets new standards in terms of stability and precision with its machine transport table. The planed, thick-walled tabletop ensures consistently precise results in every application. The robust steel-/welded- construction is highly durable and supports reliable performance.
The feed rate - up to 7.5 meters per minute - can be continuously adjusted to meet specific requirements via a frequency-controlled drive motor. Additionally, the high-quality conveyor belt, in combination with precisely matched drive components, ensures secure and slip-free feeding. In addition to the premium base equipment, the TTSC Plus comes standard with the 'Avantage Package,' which includes a vacuum table, automatic tool length measurement, and oscillation-free sanding belt control.
The combination of these features and benefits has made the WEBER TTSC 1350 Plus the first choice for RANA. 'The machine has been in operation in Schwandorf for several months,' summarizes Alexandra Graf-Weig, 'and our experiences with it have been extremely positive. It's exactly the solution we were looking for.'”
